The Giro del Belvedere gets ready for the 80th edition’s official vernissage to be held on Friday, March 23rd in Treviso’s nearby. The upcoming U23 International Classic is envisaged in high style: on Monday, April 2nd in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, Northern Italy) the world cycling’s best prospects will tackle one of the most prestigious races of the season.

Italian Cycling Federation President Renato Di Rocco will be the guest of honour alongside 1983 and 1990 Giro del Belvedere winners, Silvio Martinello and Ivan Gotti, witnessing stories and memories of their early careers.

The event celebrates its 80th edition this year with a special book “Ultima curva a sinistra” (Last turn on the left), written by Valentina Covre, to retrace the history of the Italian race with insights and funny anecdotes.

2018 Giro del Belvedere will line up in Villa di Cordignano 35 teams, with 19 overseas outfits.

Giro del Belvedere rides at full speed towards its “D-Day”, on Monday April 2nd, in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, Northern Italy), where the best cycling prospects will face one of the most important races of the U23 international calendar, celebrating its 80th edition.

With around three weeks to go, Pro Belvedere’s organizers unveiled the teams’ list, including 19 non-Italian outfits and absolute premiere like Team Wiggins (Great Britain), IAM Excelsior (Switzerland) and Bicicletas Strongman Colombia Coldeportes (Colombia). Zalf Euromobil Désirée Fior and Team Colpack lead the 16-squad Italian contingent.

Teams from 17 different countries will take part at the 2018 Easter Monday Classic: Italy, France, Denmark, Colombia, Russia, Great Britain, Spain, Switzerland, Slovenia, Australia, Austria, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Principality of Monaco, Norway, United States and Netherlands. Alongside the announcement of the teams, the line-up shaped up further with two rising stars at the start, Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (Ljubljana Gusto Xaurum) and Aussie Robert Stannard (Mitchelton Bike Exchange).

Memories, historical pics, stories: a new book celebrates the 80th edition of the U23 International Classic that launched many cycling stars over the years

The Giro del Belvedere, to be held on Monday April 2nd in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, Northern Italy), assesses its stories and memories, facts and figures  through a new book,  “Ultima curva a sinistra – 80 edizioni del Giro del Belvedere”. (Last bend to the right – 80 years of Giro del Belvedere) written by Valentina Covre, a 33-year-old girl living in Cordignano, to reaffirm the atmosphere of excitement and enthusiasm in Villa di Cordignano in looking forward the “D-day” of its Easter Monday Classics.

The book – to be unveiled in occasion of 2018 Giro del Belvedere’s official vernissage, scheduled on Friday March 23rd in Treviso’s nearby – retraces the history of the Italian cycling event with all the route’s changes and the backstories unveiled by the organizing committee, the achievement of the international status and the turning point in terms of marketing and communication. Moreover, the second part of the book collects evidence of athletes, sports directors, organizers through a number of engaging stories and funny anecdotes.

80 years of history staying young: year by year, the Giro del Belvedere keeps the roots linked to territory and traditions, increasing its international reputation in the U23 cycling calendar. Pro Belvedere’s organizers are warming up the “Easter Monday Classic” engine: on Monday April 2nd in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, Northern Italy), the best prospects of world cycling will face one of the most prestigious races of the season, with the goal to be on the golden book following Belorussian Alexander Riabushenko, last year’s winner with the European Champion jersey.

The Giro del Belvedere will soon celebrate another anniversary of its history hosting the 80th edition of the U23 international race, on Monday April 2nd, in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, Northern Italy).

The Italian classic race has always been the perfect springboard for the best cycling prospects and the 2017 edition was no exception: 6 riders of the top-10 are facing their debut in the pro’ category, starting by the winner Aleksandr Riabushenko (joining the UAE-Team Emirates), the runner-up Lucas Hamilton (Orica-Scott) and third-placed Matteo Fabbro (Team Katusha-Alpecin). Again: Daniel Savini (fourth) joined Bardiani-CSF, Neilson Powless (sixth) the Team Lotto NL-Jumbo and Michael Storer (eighth) the Team Sunweb.

With last April’s success, dressing the European Champion jersey, the 22-year-old Belarussian Aleksandr Riabushenko further enriched the race’s prestigious list of honours, including top-riders such as Maurizio Fondriest, Silvio Martinello, Ivan Gotti, Sacha Modolo and Stefan Kueng.

For the second consecutive year, a non-italian rider celebrates at the Giro del Belvedere, whose resounding success and massive prestige have been confirmed by the huge crowd surrounding the race. From the Swiss National Champion’s jersey, worn by Patrick Muller last year, to the European Champion’s jersey of Belarussian Alexandr Riabushenko, winner of the 79th “Easter Monday Classic” with a powerful sprint on the slightly sloping finish in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, Northern Italy).

It’s official: Patrick Muller will take part in the 79th Giro del Belvedere on Monday April 19th in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, Northern Italy), with the goal of achieving his second win in a row. In over 90 years of history, nobody has ever claimed consecutive wins at the U23 Easter Monday international classic.

After the powerful sprint of the 2016 edition at the end of a perfect race, BMC Development Team’s 20-year-old rider will try to give Switzerland the third win in the last 5 editions: the Swiss escalation had started in the 2013 season with Stefan Kueng’s win. The 2015 Individual Pursuit World Champion went on to become one of the best TT specialists around.
