Following a solid 2023 year, the talented Italian climber will be his team’s leader on April 1st: “I enjoy demanding races and I’m looking forward to leaving my mark at Giro del Belvedere”
Giulio Pellizzari, 20-years old climber from Marche, Italy, is coming off a positive year where he achieved second place in Tour de l’Avenir and Palio del Recioto, and a third place among pros at the Tour of the Alps.
Those results put his name on the radar, and now Pellizzari aims at confirmation with the VF Group Bardiani CSF Faizané. That’s why in 2024 he will ride for both the Under23 and the Pro peloton, trying to get a mix of races where he can go for gold and races where he will get experience in the bunch.
Among the races where he can be protagonist there’s definitely Giro del Belvedere, scheduled for Monday, April 1st, in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso).
“The winter training went fine. I’m currently racing at the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali, a highly competitive event that should give me the right pedal stroke to be in my best shape at Giro del Belvedere.”
Pellizzari is a talented climber suited for races with a solid difference in altitude, and the long history of Giro del Belvedere boast winners of different kinds, from fast rouleurs to stage races oriented riders.
“I like the course here. I did participate in 2022 and I only have good memories about it. Now it’s time to go back and leave my mark”, argued Pellizzari. “There are no long climbs, and I know that sprinting is not my best skill. We will have to set a high pace and make it a really tough race, because I have no choice: if I want to win, I need to leave everyone behind.”
However, the competitors will try to get in the way, starting from the reigning champions of Team Visma-Lease a Bike. “They are the number one favourite. Last year they won with Staune-Mittet, and this year they are still very competitive. Among other Italian teams I will have to watch out from Team Colpack, which can boast major experience in these kind of races.”
The awarding ceremony, as well as the preliminary operations, will be held in the majestic Villa Mocenigo-Berardi, also known as “Villa Belvedere”, in the municipality of Cordignano.
